BACKGROUND: THE USE OF PESTICIDES IN AGRICULTURE BECAUSE OF THE INCREASED PERFORMANCE AND LOWER COST OF PRODUCTION IS INEVITABLE; HOWEVER, THE USE OF PESTICIDES NOT ONLY ON THE PRODUCTS WILL REMAIN, BUT IT ALSO PENETRATES INTO THE TISSUES IT AS A SERIOUS THREAT TO HUMAN HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT IS STATED [1, 2].METHODS: IN THIS WORK, A NOVEL AND EASY "AIR-ASSISTED LIQUID-LIQUID MICROEXTRACTION (AALLME)" IS INTRODUCED TO ANALYZE THE PESTICIDES IN GREENHOUSE CUCUMBERS SAMPLES, USING THE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY- MASS SPECTROMETRIC DETERMINATION. IN THIS METHOD, BY USING A SYRINGE, EXTRACTION SOLVENT FINE DROPLETS ARE RAPIDLY FORMED AND DISPERSED INTO THE AQUEOUS SAMPLES, THEN THE WHOLE MIXTURE WAS WITHDRAWN AND PUSH-OUT OF THE AQUEOUS SAMPLE SOLUTION BY THE SAME SYRINGE SEVERAL TIMES. DURING THIS TASK, BY FORCE OF AIR, CONTACT SURFACE OF THE SOLVENT-SAMPLE WAS ENHANCED TREMENDOUSLY. THE PARAMETERS AFFECTING THE EXTRACTION EFFICIENCY WERE INVESTIGATED INCLUDING THE TYPE AND VOLUME OF THE EXTRACTION SOLVENT, SALT ADDITION, EXTRACTION TIMES AND PH.RESULTS: UNDER OPTIMIZED CONDITIONS, THE METHOD SHOWED GOOD LINEARITY WITH THE CORRELATION COEFFICIENTS HIGHER THAN 0.992 AND THE SENSITIVITY WITH THE LIMITS OF DETECTION BETWEEN 0.001 MG.L-1 AND 0.58 MG.L-1. THE METHOD WAS APPLIED TO DETERMINE THE ORGANO-PHOSPHOROUS RESIDUES IN AQUEOUS SAMPLES AND THE RECOVERIES WERE RANGED FROM 90% TO 102.9% WITH RELATIVE STANDARD DEVIATIONS OF 3.8-8.8%. THE FEASIBILITY OF THE METHOD IN REAL (SPIKED) CUCUMBER SAMPLES WAS PROVED.CONCLUSION: A NOVEL METHOD BASED ON AALLME WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE EXTRACTION AND PRECONCENTRATION OF TRACES OF PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN CUCUMBER SAMPLES. THE PROPOSED MICROEXTRACTION METHOD HAS CERTAIN ADVANTAGES SUCH AS EASY OPERATION, SHORT EXTRACTION TIME, AND LOW CONSUMPTION OF ORGANIC SOLVENT. THESE ADVANTAGES MAKE AALLME A FEASIBLE ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO EXTRACT AND CONCENTRATE THE PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN POTENTIALLY MORE FOOD SAMPLES.
